Description
Frankincense is an aromatic resin used in incense and perfumes, obtained from trees of the genus Boswellia in the family Burseraceae. The word is from Old French Franc ences (‘high-quality incense’). Frankincense is also connected with a bunch of religious rituals and sacrifices and is especially prominent in Christianity where it represents one of the three gifts offered to Jesus’ child. The resin has long been treasured for its beautiful spicy, slightly lemon scent and its therapeutic benefits.
